Egypt Flights: Arrivals and Departure Videos

Air Egypt is served by international airports at Alexandria, Cairo, Luxor, and Hurghada on the mainland, and at Sharm el Shaykh on the Sinai peninsula. The largest and most active airport is in Cairo. There are non-stop flights from most major African, Asian, North America and European cities.

Egypt is located in North Africa, connecting to Western Asia via the Sinai Peninsula. It borders the Gaza Strip, Israel, Sudan, Libya, and the Red and Mediterranean seas. Egypt is one of the most populous countries in Africa and the Middle East, and the vast majority of that population lives near the banks of the Nile River, with the larger desert areas being very sparsely populated.

Egypt does not receive much rainfall except in the winter months. South of Cairo, rainfall averages only around 2 to 5 mm (0.1 to 0.2 in) per year and at intervals of many years. On a very thin strip of the northern coast the rainfall can be as high as 410 mm (16 in), with most of the rainfall between October and March.

Temperatures average between 80F and 90F in summer, and up to 109F on the Red Sea coast. Temperatures average between 55F and 70F in winter. A steady wind from the northwest helps hold down the temperature near the Mediterranean coast. Every year, a predictable flooding of the Nile replenishes Egypt's soil ("The Gift of the Nile"), giving Egypt a consistent harvest throughout the year.
